Youth Department

Angelic Choir

The objective of the Angelic Choir is to advance the worship attitudes of our children, to strengthen the rising generation’s faith in JESUS CHRIST through songs, and to help children, youth and their families’ progress along the covenant path as they meet life’s challenges with a song in their hearts.

Girl Scouts

The Mission of St. John Girl Scouts – The LOVE Troop #10726 – is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place .

Girl Scout Troop 10726 is a multi-level troop consisting of nine girls and two troop leaders. We supported girls in the Orange Mound community since 2003.

We aim to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Our Promise:

On my honor, I will try to serve GOD and my country, to help people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Girl Scout Law:

I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, and to make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

We are 2.5 million strong — 1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) to change the world. Click here for more information about joining or volunteering for Girl Scouts.

Liturgical Dancers

Let them praise His Name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp.”

PSALM 149:3, NIV

The Mission of the St. John Liturgical Dance Ministry is:

To praise GOD through the gift of dance

The Liturgical Dancers of St. John Missionary Baptist Church dance, like David danced, with pride in serving GOD. We believe that Dance and Movement are forms of art and expression of our thanksgiving to GOD. We lift our hands and exalt The LORD of lords, as our hearts are filled with praise.

We start with the principles of learning the meaning of songs performed, meditating and exploring the art of movement, symbolizing the words of the song. We teach your child or adolescent how to become in tune with GOD while giving Him the glory and honor through praise dance.

Practices for St. John Liturgical Dancers are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

(Due to COVID-19, all practices have been suspended until further notice.)

Youth Usher Board – No. 3 Ushers

The Mission of the St. John Youth Usher Board is to complete the Biblical tasks outlined in Psalm 84:10.

Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the House of my GOD than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”

PSALM 84:10, NIV

Members of the No. 3 Youth Usher Board are the first faces St. John members, visitors and friends see on first and third Sundays.

(Due to COVID-19, we are currently not meeting as usual due to safety and precaution. We will post up-to-date information when the Youth Usher Board reconvenes.)
