LOVE

Prejudice is still a part of our society. The struggle is still going on, but we must continue to fight on.

The best weapon we have is not our abilities to figure out and solve these problems. Our best defense and offense is prayer and only a four-letter word — LOVE.

Love is not something that we should confine and limit to our own family. The Bible says in St. Matthew 5:46, “What reward do you have if you love only those who love you?”

Brothers and sisters in the African-American community must be careful not to get caught in feelings of revenge. Romans 12:19 (KJV) reminds us to “Avenge not yourselves… for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ saith The LORD.”

What happened 400 years ago and what is still happening today must be remembered in context, so that we do not repeat it. Let us learn from the past and present, so that we can build toward a better future.

And, let us pray for our leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV) tells us that “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks [should] be made for all men. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of GOD our Savior.”

So, let us pray for our leaders and live in love as The Father has commanded us.
