We have returned to our individual Sunday School classes for all ages. Come and bring another St. John member, friend, neighbor, or relative.

The safety of our members and visitors is a top priority, so we provide masks and encourage social distancing where deemed appropriate, along with the use of hand sanitizer.

  • St. John MBC Weekly Teachers’ Meeting is held via Zoom every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.  All teachers are required to attend. Dial-in # 312.626.6799.

St. John MBC Health Ministry

The St. John MBC Health Ministry encourages everyone to get your yearly exams.

Health Moments are offered in classroom #1 on 3rd Sundays. These are 15-minute presentations on a variety of health-related topics to increase awareness among our St. John members, visitors, and friends.

Blood pressure checks are taken every 4th Sunday in Sunday School Classroom #1.

Other Upcoming Events

Shelby County A – Z Community Expo will feature everything our community has to offer from A – Z, including local businesses, organizations, and resources. The event will also include live entertainment, book giveaways, interactive activities, and free services.

The Reunion Tour will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

It will feature Gospel greats Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Yolanda Adams, and special guest Kierra Sheard-Kelly.

St. John MBC Youth Highlight

Raya attends Overton High School. She is a member of the Overton Wind Ensemble, where she plays the flute and piccolo.

Raya is also a member of the school jazz band, and she plays the tenor saxophone.

Raya recently had the honor of playing with the (WTSOBA )West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.

Raya’s participation won her a plaque for first chair with the Blue band playing her piccolo.

Congratulations to one of St. John’s newest converts, Meagan Wheeler, who placed 1st Place in the 2023 Frayser Community PTSA Essay / Poem Contest. The contest theme was “How Can I Become a More Responsible Citizen?”Meagan’s brother Ericson also participated in the contest.

St. John MBC Pianist Job Opening

The St. John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1656 Pendleton Street in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking an Experienced Pianist.

Applicants should be proficient in teaching voice parts and able to work well with diverse age groups.

An interview and audition will be required.
