Rent and Utilities Assistance Available Due to COVID-19

Memphis and Shelby County are now accepting applications from citizens whose ability to pay rent and/or utilities have been impacted by COVID-19.

Please Note: Only complete applications will be considered. You will need to upload proof of income for all income earners in your household, proof of COVID-19 hardship (if you have experienced any), a copy of your lease and any late payment or eviction papers (if you are requesting rental assistance), and a copy of your utility bill (if you are requesting utility assistance).

The U. S. Department of Treasury has granted a total of $28.2 million to the City of Memphis and Shelby County (including 19.6 million to the City and 8.6 to the County) to administer the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program.

The program will provide Shelby County residents direct financial assistance in the form of emergency rent and utility relief.

Funding for the program is set to expire December 31, 2021.
